LIP ENHANCEMENTIn recent years, fuller,
more voluptuous lips have become a national obsession.
Many types of fillers are used to plump up the lips.
Some of the most popular ones are Ultrasoft, Goretex, Alloderm, various
PTF fillers, along with fat injections, and
collagen. Hyalronic acid products (Restylane) are the newest
ones, but they are still under scrutiny and are yet to be approved by the FDA.
Dr.
Miles prefers Goretex as a permanent lip filler, which can be used in the lip
borders as well as the substance (inner lips).
It is also removable, but the drawback is that it does not feel quite as
natural as some of the more temporary fillers.
Ultrasoft or ultraform feels better because it adheres to one’s lip
tissue, but is not easily removable (if one should wish to do so). For
the appropriate candidates, there are also surgical procedures to actually widen
the lips. Subnasal lip lifts are performed to enhance a long upper lip with
little dental show and to improve the cupid’s bow area.
A lip rollout or V-Y plasty pulls out a portion of the patient’s own
lip that is hidden inside, thus, In the case of very thin lips, two, three, or even four procedures may be used for noticeable improvement. Visit our plastic / cosmetic surgery offices located in Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas (TX).
